This is for a Brand New Topray Solar 15 Watt Amorphous Solar Panel with a Plastic Frame and a 7AMP Topray Solar Charge Controller. The Charge controller is very user friendly with quick connectors for simple wiring no wire nuts or tape needed. This is a clean-looking well made panel with a solid PVC frame. This frame is lightweight with rounded edges. It is safer to transport and use at campsites, on the boat, at the beach, hunting, or anywhere portability is important. This is a great introduction to solar battery charging. The four "mounting holes" make this panel very easy to attach to a flat surface. The built-in stand off tabs on the back of the panel allow air to circulate under it. This is one of the easiest "plug n play" panel / controller combinations available.

Unlike most small controller, this one has leads for direct load connections with the added safety of a low voltage disconnect feature. Installation:
 

• Connect the Solar Controller "Battery" leads  to the Battery Terminal by simply connecting the appropriate quick connectors
• Connect the leads from the Solar Panel to the "Solar Panel" leads on the controller
   
• Loads can then be connected to the "load" leads of the controller

A solar panel is basically a battery charger. When exposed to sunlight it produces DC current much like a common battery charger that runs off standard household 110 Volt current. The solar charge controller regulates the amount of energy that the panel puts into the battery. Once the battery is fully charged it opens the circuit to prevent damage caused by overcharging. When you use some of the stored energy, it automatically closes the circuit and starts to recharge the battery during sunlight hours. The amp rating of a controller tell you how much panel current it can safely handle. The voltage rating tells you the panel voltage if can regulate. Controllers with a LVD (low voltage disconnect) also protect your battery from deep discharges. When a load is connected to these leads and the battery to around 11volts, it will automatically disconnect the load to protect the battery.
